Sault Ste. Marie The NOHA has approved the scheduling of “Last Chance Clinics” for deficient bench staff in Sault Ste. Marie and region. The clinics will all occur on the December 14 to 16, 2018 weekend. 2018 Design-a-Mask Voting

Finalists from the under-13 and 13-18 age categories have been selected for this year’s Boston Pizza Design a Mask contest! In addition to having their design featured on a global stage, both winners of their respective age categories will also receive a trip for two to a game at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship along with a $50 Boston Pizza gift card, a Team Canada jersey and their own painted mask autographed by Team Canada. NOHA Life Member Ed Pupich Re-Elected to Hockey Canada Board of Directors

The Hockey Canada Board of Directors was elected Saturday, November 17th at the Hockey Canada Winter Congress Meeting. Among those Board Members re-elected was NOHA Life Member Ed Pupich, a longtime hockey volunteer from Schumacher, Ontario. Ed Pupich will serve alongside eight other Directors from all across Ontario, with the new Chairman Michale Brind’Amour of Saint-Alphonse-Roderiguez, Que. Northern Ontario AAA Teams a Presence at Big Nickel

The Big Nickel AAA Tournament in Sudbury, Ontario, is the most prestigious AAA tournament in the North, and 2018’s tournament was no exception, adding two new Divisions in Minor Bantam AAA and Minor Peewee AAA. 32 Teams participated this year, with AAA talent from all across Ontario, from Toronto, to Ottawa, to Thunder Bay. The NOHA had a total of 17 teams representing the North, and of the 5 Divisions, 4 NOHA teams were in the Finals. At Minor Peewee, the Timmins North Stars lost to the North Central Predators. NOHA and GNML Announce 39 Players to Attend OMHA ETA Showcase

North Bay, ON – November 6, 2018 – The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) in conjunction with the Great North Midget League (GNML) is pleased to announce the 39 players (4 goaltenders, 13 defencemen, 22 forwards), born in the year 2003 who have been selected to participate as part of two Team NOHAs at the OMHA Eastern AAA Showcase to be held from December 1 to 2, 2018 at the Aurora Community Centre in Aurora. The players will be separated into two equal rosters (Team NOHA Red and Team NOHA White) and will each play in three games, including the Team NOHA Red vs. Team NOHA White intrasquad game. Lou Battochio, a longtime hockey volunteer and past president of Schumacher Day Minor Hockey Association, passed away over the weekend.
