North Bay, ON – July 17, 2018 – The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and the Great North Midget League (GNML) are proud to announced that Mark Seidel has been named Team NOHA’s Director of Operations for the 2018-2019 season.
Seidel is currently Director of Scouting for North American Central Scouting Inc., and most recently served as Director of Player Evaluation and Player Recruitment with the Niagara Ice Dogs of the OHL.
Previously, Seidel has scouted players for the Erie Otters (2006-2007 – Assistant General Manager), Minnesota Wild (2006-2008), and Owen Sound Attack (2003-2006), among others.
“We are very pleased that someone with Mark’s background has agreed to take the lead with Team NOHA this season. We are confident in Mark’s ability to identify talent and to ensure that players from across Northern Ontario are given an opportunity,” said NOHA President Claudette Myre.
"I'm very excited to work with the NOHA to ice a team that will represent the talent that we have in Northern Ontario for these important showcases,” stated Seidel. “The 2003-born players in the North have shown that they can compete with anyone across the province and I’m looking forward to getting to work.”
Seidel will be responsible for the selection of players who will be competing for Team NOHA throughout the 2018-2019 season. The first step of the evaluation process will begin at the OHF/OHL Under 15 Camp in Sudbury from August 10-12, 2018 in Sudbury. The Camp, which is a part of the NOHA Development Weekend, will see more than 80 of the top OHL Drafteligible players from the NOHA make their way to Sudbury with aspirations of making Team NOHA in the Fall of 2018.
Team NOHA will compete at the following events during the season – the ETA AAA Showcase in early December, 2018 as well as the OHL Cup and OHL Gold Cup in 2019. Team NOHA will be made up of 2003-born players from across the NOHA.
